Sun on my back,
Ganpati in front,
One’s got my back,
The other his eye
on me -
Watchful, benign, the amanuensis
Of India’s Greatest Story
Has witnessed several crises
In this writer’s
writerly life -
Sunny, one day
Cloudy, the next,
Two days alike are outre
In this job that rivals
a gambler’s -
Tea is a succour,
As is a manuscript that’s ready
To make me an editor,
An honour that befalls me
ever so rarely -
Chip & chop,
Trim and truss,
a scalpel, a mop - ah Aesop,
you’d know, the tools of trade,
millennia on, they stay the same.

Hi Manreet,
ReplyDeleteWow, that's quite a busy desk. So, that's how a writer's desk looks like ;)
Beautiful lines describing your entire environment in the four walls of your room. Loved reading this.

Jay
